When Change Knocks, Purpose Answers

For all of us, our lives go through cycles. The Bible refers to it as “seasons”. For some these cycles comes after achieving career milestones. For others, it may follow acute stress events such as a job loss, a key decision point such as retirement or move to a new country, or even a light-bulb realization pointing to imminent change. At these times, I suspect this question frequently creeps in: “Is this all there is?”

The truth is: fulfillment ultimately comes from finding your purpose — aligning your values, strengths, and passions with the impact you want to make and what gives you joy.

💡 If you’re sensing the need to realign, start by asking yourself:

  1. What energizes me, even when life is tough?

  2. Where am I successful, but not fulfilled?

  3. What contribution makes me feel alive?

In this recent AOL post of a People magazine article, read about how a highly successful Wall St commodities trader decided to make a radical about-turn for the sake of finding his “joy” .

The itch for change is a life-constant:

A 2025 FlexJobs report published in Trade and Industry Development says  69% of U.S. professionals have changed or considered changing career fields in the past year. One of the top 3 reasons: job fulfillment.

According to ManpowerGroup’s Global Talent Barometer 2025, 89% of workers say they are confident in their skills/experience, but only ~62% are satisfied with their current roles.
